Great war's forgotten tales revealed Lest we forget: Helen Vail is putting together a blog of 100 Anzac memorials from around the country to coincide with the 100th anniversary of World War One in 2014. Ms Vail is pictured outside a memorial in Mt Eden which doubles as the gates to Mt Eden Normal Primary School. Photo: JASON OXENHAM FROM Page 1 She says stories of underage teens faking their ages to go to war and families having to cope with the death of loved ones are common. Many of them were so young. I can't imagine the grief they must have felt. I really believe it's something we shouldn't forget.'' Mrs Vail hopes to fin- ish the project by August 2014, with trips to the Bay of Plenty and Otago on the cards dur- ing the coming months. She says many of the memorials were built in the 1920s and hopes her blog will draw more attention to them. It's such a shame people drive past them every day.''
