DENTIST OPEN Couple's deaths shock their neighbours The death of a couple in their Pakuranga home has shocked neighbours who say they had never noticed trouble between the two. The names of the dead couple were released by police on Monday. They were Jacqueline Allister, 26, and Ivor Christiansen, 36. Police arrived at the scene to find the two bodies inside the house with serious knife wounds. They are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths. Neighbour and community watch member David Gordon says he saw about six police cars arrive at the house in Walworth Ave about midnight on Saturday. Police say they were called to the address by a 14-year-old girl. Mum sheds kilos for son's wedding By NICOLA WILLIAMS Before: Elizabeth Smith before changing her lifestyle. After: Elizabeth Smith's transformation. Photo: JASON DORDAY When Elizabeth Smith went clothes shopping she used to return empty-handed but now she could clear out the racks. It's a much more enjoyable experience since her weight dropped and her confidence soared. The Half Moon Bay resident was a finalist in the Weight Watchers Healthy Life Awards held recently. The catalyst for change was wanting to look her best at her son's wedding. In the year leading up to his March 2009 wed- ding Mrs Smith embarked on a life- changing healthy lifestyle. Since then she has lost 27kg, 15 of those through Weight Watchers. My husband just thinks it's the cat's whiskers.'' The change in diet and exercise habits also extended to her family. We always had rub- bish in the cupboard so we just had to do with- out. Once that kicked in everyone benefited.'' She says Weight Watchers worked wonders. It really suited my body. I liked the whole philosophy, encourage- ment and support they offered.'' Mrs Smith reached her goal weight two weeks before the wedding. She says she feels awesome'' and is deter- mined not to resort to old habits. I gave myself the joy of looking better and those around me enjoy the way I am now.''
