The Salvation Army is working arm-in-arm with the company to deliver gifts left under the trees to families in need. Major Robert Ross says while most New Zealanders look forward to celebrating with family and friends many quietly dread the arrival of the festive season. ''Christmas expectations place an immense emotional and financial strain on parents,'' he says. Carols for charity Tenor Will Martin will perform Christmas carols along with songs from his new album Inspirations at St Matthew-in- the-City. The December 4 event will raise money for women's cancer charity Look Good Feel Better. Go to www.eventfinder.co.nz for tickets. Premium tickets are $89 and include a signed copy of his new album. Standard tickets are $69 for adults and children under 14 $29. Paw t-shirts Clothing brand Huffer has released a range of Paw Justice t-shirts inspired by the Patch Up Your Pet campaign. The Paw Justice patch is a symbol against animal cruelty. The t-shirts are available from www.pawjustice.co.nz and feature animals of Paw Justice supporters. Blue balloons: Costumes, colour and music make the annual spectacle. For 76 years the Farmers Santa Par- ade has brought joy to Aucklanders of all ages. Sunday's show brings in the festive season with a Christmas extravaganza of colourful and grand floats, marching bands, character balloons and the big man in red. Silver Fern Temepara George will be there to lead the parade as this year's grand marshall. General manager Pam Glaser says a slew of new features will make it the biggest and brightest event yet. Free parking will be available on the day for vehicles leaving the Downtown, Karangahape Rd and Victoria St carparks from noon to 6pm. The parade starts at the corner of Mayoral Drive and Cook St, travels down Queen St to Customs St West into Albert St, ending at the corner of Albert and Wellesley streets.
